Mr. Obama does not want me (or you) to have a Korean M1

The White House recently reversed an earlier decision, by blocking the sale of 87,000 M1's and over 700,000 M1 Carbines to US Citizens.

Link to story.

My favorite quote:
"The transfer of such a large number of weapons -- 87,310 M1 Garands and 770,160 M1 Carbines -- could potentially be exploited by individuals seeking firearms for illicit purposes," the spokesman told FoxNews.com.

From what some of my sources tell me, all of these firearms were slated to be sold through the CMP - a government-run organization. This is the same outfit I'm getting an M1 from (probably a Greek M1). The CMP does the same due-diligence that all other gun stores are required to perform, and they add the requirement of belonging to a club.

Not a likely explanation of why the government does not want these guns in the hands of the citizens.

More likely, Mr. Obama fears these weapons might help Americans keep what little freedom we have left.
