When To Hold, When To Fold

Don't you just hate it? When you have to log in to a website, and you enter your login credentials - user name and password. Then an error pops up: "either your user name or password is incorrect." Well, which is it? The user name of the password? One would think that a person intelligent enough to program the site to say that would also be intelligent enough to program the site to say which is incorrect - the user name or the password.  At this point, the IT gammas are starting to type furiously below, "iT Is MoRe SeCuRe!" (to not disclose which has been entered correctly - the user name or password.) This author could argue that point with great effect, but for the sake of making a point, the point is reluctantly conceded.  So, let's get this out in the open, so that all understand: THE NUMBER ONE REASON PEOPLE HAVE ISSUES WITH YOUR WEBSITE IS LOGGING IN. We all have too many logins and passwords. Nobody can remember them all. This process must be easy,...

Not Rape, Stop Calling it That

Image
Social media was so ablaze the past few days! "Brock Turner only gets 6 months in jail for rape!" say so many. "A black athlete (Corey Batey) got a much harsher sentence for rape than a white athlete!" says the Black Pride crowd. Another meme compared a multi year sentence a man get for growing Marijuana to Turner's 6-month sentence for "rape." But there's a problem with these statements... Brock Turner did not get convicted of rape. Let that sink in. Make sure you rage at me. Make sure you stop reading right here because you're mad. Make sure you link this to some unpopular opinion social media outlet. All done? Good. Let's look at the facts. And facts are what courtrooms are supposed to focus on. Facts 1. Turner was not convicted of rape. 2. Turner was convicted of   three charges  - - Assault with intent to commit rape of an intoxicated or unconscious person, - Penetrating an intoxicated person with a foreign object, and - P...

Mind of Anarchy

Possibly one of the better quotes I've ever read, from Facebook the other day: " How many of you anarchists leave your doors open to your homes and let any random person come in whenever they want and stay as long as they want?" Of course they don't leave their doors open. "Only for thee, never for me," is their mindset.

Perverted Laws

"No animal's life is worth that of a human's." That is one of the many lessons my mother taught my siblings and I when we were growing up. Today, with the mish-mash of laws on animal cruelty (many of which blend property law with laws designed to punish the harming of other people), it is possible to go to jail for failing to take a stray dog to a veterinarian. Indeed, two NFL players - Donte Stallworth and Leonard Little, spent less time in jail combined (0 days - just probation) for two combined counts of manslaughter than Michael Vick served for hosting dog fights where dogs died (two years). YES - you can go to jail longer for letting dogs kill each other than for killing a human being. This is a total perversion of justice. .

This is a fun one

So one time, this guy got mad at me because I mentioned something about him that was true... and I guess he didn't want it to be true. Guess he shouldn't have said it. Nevertheless, this guy gets online, creates a phony email address and persona, then emails me about it: Hey Usagi, Dude I really appreciate your blog and your a salon for the truth.  The world needs more guys like you willing to stand up to liberals and Cavinists.  About that clown that came to our church... he was a cpa that worked cracker barrel and was a class a jerk.  Thought anybody who wasn't Calvinist didn't know the gospel.  Funny how it's the other way around eh? Same guy? Can you tell me what happened with that celeb pastor you dealt with?  What did he lie to you about?  Oh, and what's your name?  Seems weird to keep calling you Usagi.  LOL later mike Clue 1: Use of the word "eh" - only time I've seen that in...
