Perspective

We as people bring many perspectives to this world.

Sometimes, those perspectives are a result of our personality combined with our environment or upbringing (or both!). Perspectives like this are often influenced by logic. Frequently, a person's emotions will also play a role.

Other times, some people inject a strong amount of rebellion into their stated "perspective." People like this often have a perspective that is contrary, just for the sake of being contrary.

Ultimately, there are literally millions of reasons for a given perspective. I am reminded of a recent conversation with a prospective student's mother for my dojo. She was asking about the possibility of private lessons. She stated that the church we trained in was "cold." I couldn't help but realize that at that moment, we had been holding classes in the church for only 90 days. Prior to that, we were holding classes in my garage. Talk about cold! That garage was directly exposed to the elements.

So in that instance - on an evening where the temperature in the garage would have been in the low 40's, and the temperature in the church was in the mid 60's - two people had two totally different, yet valid perspectives. She was of the opinion that our training facilities were cold. To her they were... her home would likely have been 5-10 degrees warmer. To me, the room was very comfortable. It was 20 degrees warmer than the alternative.
