What They Really Mean
noun
(derogatory or humorous) Communication by women viewed as nagging, critical, or shallow.
It's that shallow part that we reference today. Let's start by giving some (not all) of the more common meanings and examples of shallow speak:
- Says one thing, but means another... with no consistency by which to grade exact real meaning.
- Afraid to say what needs to be said, so resorts to a platitude or half truth that fails to convey the needed message.
- Concern with things of a trivial nature, and applying a level of great importance to them.
So, with that said, let's see how these shallow speak examples manifest themselves into for many people in regular everyday conversation. Here are some commonly used phrases by modern females, and what the normal, natural English translation would be:
- “Controlling” really meant he wouldn’t let her act reckless.
- “Verbally abusive” meant he held her accountable.
- “Emotionally unavailable” meant he refused to argue just to feed her drama.
- “We grew apart” meant her single friends got in her head
