Debate Summary

Image
After the Presidential debate, many have written what they think.  Democrats claim Kamala won the debate. Of course, these are all mentally ill and/or intellectually dishonest people, so take that claim with a grain of salt.  Republicans claim Donald Trump won the debate. Of course, this side deals with the real world and facts daily, so again take that claim for what it is worth.  I've seen some people - almost exclusively Democrats - state that the moderators were fair to both sides. I really would like a hit of whatever medications they are taking, because that claim does not match with reality one iota. But you do not hear Republicans complaining. Simply because Donald Trump holds the line well with 3-on-1 odds. The mainstream media has not liked him since day 1 of his first campaign. And their blatant favoritism works well to motivate the Right side.  The biased moderators "fact checked" the former president many times. Ironically, in this information age, their lies

Fetus or Child?

From social media -  "Who aborts a child? [Implication that the unborn baby is not a child] IT's a foetus not a child that is aborted. Glad I could help clarify this misconception." So, let's go to proper definitions here.  Fetus - noun The unborn offspring A fetus or foetus (/ˈfiːtəs/; pl. : fetuses, foetuses, rarely feti or foeti) is the unborn offspring that develops from a mammal embryo. Following embryonic development, the fetal stage of development takes place.  Author's note: Necessarily, a human fetus would be the unborn offspring of a human. to date, no human has been impregnated with, birthed, or even carried the fetus of another species.  Child - noun: child; plural noun: children  A young human being below the age of puberty or below the legal age of majority.  Therefore, using deductive reasoning and syllogism, we can easily state the following facts:  All (human) fetuses are children, but not all children are fetuses. The Left ™ uses the term "

Bright Lights II

As a follow up from this post .  It has been a while since I've had to high-beam a bright lighter. No doubt, part of that was due to the law that Tennessee passed on the topic. A commenter on the previous post indicated that vehicles (often trucks) with the suspension adjusted so the rear of the vehicle is lower than the front of the vehicle also contribute to the bright lights.  Well, that is known as the "Carolina Squat," and it is illegal in Tennessee as of July 1.  Good!

Unpopular Opinion September 2024

Stating an unpopular opinion here - red dots for pistols are still a fad, and always will be one as long as they persist.  James Yeager felt and never really came off this opinion that red dots on a pistol are a fad.  Red Dots on CCW Pistols - Part 1 (youtube.com) A RED DOT DOES NOT INCREASE SPEED WITH A PISTOL A red dot on a rifle is a speed aiming apparatus. A red dot on a pistol is a precision apparatus. It is fairly easy to teach a student a combat proficient level of accuracy using iron sights on a pistol within a the first day of a larger two-day class. Meanwhile, most people wear a pistol for self defense. Self defense situations are widely known to be situations where time is of the essence. You won't have time to find that dot and line it up.  YOU WILL HUNT FOR THE DOT. Oh, you think that you can fix that? Yes - it can be fixed. No, it has little to do with "proper fundamentals," like so many YouTube videos would have you believe (that's just how they explain

Why Return To Office?

A Wells Fargo employee was found dead at her office four days after clocking in.  Wells Fargo has been one of a number of companies that has been making major pushes to return to office work to "increase collaboration."  - Yeah, so much collaboration that if you die at your desk, it will be 4 days before anybody notices.  Return to office is not to increase collaboration. It is for only two reasons I can think of: 1. To justify huge line-item expenditures (office rents/mortgages and similar).  2. To increase micro-management by ineffective corporate yes-men.

Be Careful Who you Recommend

As a firearms instructor, I will generally recommend that people take classes, and also to take classes from other instructors. It is in this practice - suggesting classes from others - where great care must be taken. There are two main ways to recommend a class from other instructors: 1. Broadly: "You should take classes with other instructors and schools." (not naming specific places) 2. Specifically: "You should take a class from Middle Tennessee Firearms Training ." (naming a specific place) For the record, I absolutely recommend Middle Tennessee Firearms Training.  Making recommendations Generally speaking, a broad recommendation is a good thing. And generally speaking, a specific recommendation should only be made with firsthand confidence in the instructor/school that is suggested.  In this example, I have trained multiple times at MTFT, and consider Jeremy, the head instructor, a friend. In a similar vein, I would gladly recommend Thunder Ranch, although I h
