Baltimore Thoughts

Many have asked my thoughts on Baltimore,  so here goes...

1. The Police
None of this happens without the police brutality and the murder of a man who was denied his right to a trial.
Whatever police property is destroyed is a justified casualty.
While I do not wish harm on anybody,  there is an old saying that applies here... something about living by the sword...

2. Rioting
Civil disobedience?  Sure.
Lash out at those who have harmed you? Ok.

Destruction of private property wholly unrelated to the significant events? Nope.
Looting? No way. I guess all the free food, free housing, and free welfare checks weren't enough...
Harming non-police citizens? Unjustified.

3. The Media
As usual, the media ignores or intentionally hides the real truth.
Often, the media is used as a distraction. I wonder what this is distracting us from?

That's what I think. How about you?

While this incident has roots in the issue you point out, is it really honest to say that rioting and looting only happens because of the police brutality?

UMMM, NO. Not 'no' but NO. That property isn't just their's to destroy, it belongs to all the citizens of Baltimore. The destruction affects how the police can respond to crime later -- it is not justified to destroy property that belongs to everyone.
Not unless they want to step up and take responsibility and be accountable for the damage.

  2. Thanks for your opinions.
I used to (only 5 years ago) think the exact same way. Eventually, I came to realize that we fought a revolution against a less tyrannical government not quite 250 years ago.

    1. Yes We fought a revolution against a less tyrannical government; when all other avenues of change were exhausted.
I don't think we are at that point -- with that cause - in Baltimore.
Nor is the damage going to result in change; frankly I doubt the damage is motivated by the desire to change.

I do not doubt the protesters are seeking change. I do NOT think the people burning, looting, and generally destroying things are seeking to restrict the government's tyranny.

  3. See, thousands of other people, myself included, feel all other forms of reason have failed... in Baltimore and across the country.

How many more must die at the hands of the fascists and their gestapo?
