Calvinist Lies 6

I know, I know - redundant title is redundant.

In this series, I will not debate Calvinism vs. Arminianism. After all, the majority of the people who use the term "Arminian" are Calvinists - a very small micro-sect of Christianity. The other 6-billion people on the planet refer to "Arminians" as Christians. I also like the term "Biblicist," when it comes to matters of doctrine.

Perseverance of the Saints
This one is also controversial. Perseverance of the Saints, at its core, is the idea that those saved will persevere in their faith and their works. This concept is errant. It places all the responsibility on the person, and not on God. In fact, Calvin went as far as to say that those that were "backslidden" (my term, not Calvin's - the concept is still the same) at time of death were never, in fact, saved.

That, too, is false.

At this point, Calvinists will start reaching and twisting words (they always do).
Calvinists like to twist words here a lot (either they do not know what Calvin taught, or they do know, and they feel a need to cover it up!). They will confuse the doctrine of Eternal Security - that a person once saved cannot lose his salvation due to the commission of a sin or sins - with the heretical concept of Perseverance of the Saints.

Summary:
Salvation cannot be lost by sin after one has been redeemed.
Eternal Security = God perseveres.
Perseverance of the Saints = Man perseveres.
Eternal Security =/= Perseverance of the Saints.
