In Japan a little over 100 years ago, laws were passed to forbid the wearing of arms. Shortly thereafter in occupied Okinawa, laws were passed that forbade the practice of Martial Arts.
In Great Britain, laws were passed to basically forbid civilian ownership of firearms. Since, legislation has been passed such that a person who defends himself with force can be tried on grounds of assault. Frequently, people are prosecuted for beating up burglars!
There is much talk lately about increasing gun control. If this happens, do not be surprised if laws are subsequently passed that will limit or forbid the practice of martial arts and / or the use of martial arts in self defense.
