Not surprising, really - 2012

CNN reports that gun sales were up - way up - this Holiday season.

Some interesting stats reported:
Dec. 23, 2011 was the second busiest day on record (in terms of most background checks performed)
Black Friday 2011 was the busiest day on record.
Nearly half a million background checks were performed in the six days prior to Christmas.

Only 1.3% of background checks performed resulted in a denial (had no idea that's what the percentage would be).
The number of background checks performed does not equal the number of guns sold. Per ATF regulation, multiple firearms may be purchased at the same time with a single background check.
