So far off the mark, it's almost funny

In an anti-gun article, USA Today showed a picture of an AR15, in an article titled:
"AK-47s are turning up more in US"

In the small print caption under the photograph, the rifle is correctly labeled as an AR15. Still, why not show the AK47?
