The age of technology

Something struck me funny today:


Why is it that we now have such advanced technology with cell phones and the like. Only to have the cell phone ring just like the old-time phones used to?

I heard another person's cell go off this morning as we walked in to work, and the ring was an electronic version of the same ring my parent's land-line had back in the 1970's. I have my phone set to the same ring!

    Because all of the other ring tones are so danged annoying..

This author has many preppers for friends, due to obvious reasons . One of the topics that comes up often is comms in an emergency situation. I have decided the hill I will stop on is local comms - as can be had via normal handheld walkies or similar. To get more range, ham radio is about the only civilian option, and I will NOT be going that way.  It is a protest.
