Don’t Expect Protection, Just Prosecution When You Are Innocent: How Police Really Operate

What did we learn last week? Well, we learned two key things about "Law Enforcement" that this blog has been shouting from the rooftops for years.

  1. Police have no duty to protect you... and they won't.
  2. But Police do have a "duty" to arrest you for DUI - even if you are sober.

From the news:
Jury acquits ex-officer of charges he failed his duty to confront gunman in Texas school shooting. In the article, it is mentioned that another officer is also charged, and that it is expected the prosecutor will drop those charges. Why? Well, the article states it a bit further down, plain as day: "Juries are often reluctant to convict law enforcement officers." Yes, a particular instance is cited, but no, it really does not matter the charge - police are rarely charged and even more rarely convicted, often despite overwhelming evidence.

Also from the news:
THP colonel defends DUI arrests amid wrongful arrest allegations. Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) has come under fire of late for having arrested hundreds of people for DUI when these people were, in fact, sober! They are not alone - many other Tennessee agencies have done the same, over 400 people in 2024 alone were wrongly arrested for DUI.

On the extremely humorous side, Colonel Matt Perry stated in his testimony: "There’s certainly no quota like some of these articles have pushed." Of course not, Colonel, of course not.

The colonel doubled down, as liars often do: "We don't reward a trooper for a DUI arrest. They don't get compensation. The department certainly doesn't get compensation."
This is simply verbal gymnastics. Of course the officers do not get direct additional compensation, but they are allotted more overtime (which is more money for them), and promotions (again, more money).

And then, the colonel provided the funniest line I have read in a news outlet in quite some time: “They’re not sober drivers. They might have come back with nothing from the TBI lab in their system, but that doesn’t make them a sober driver,” Perry said.
Gawt Damn! This guy must be warming up to run for political office.

Possible Summary?
One proofreader suggested that modern police often focus on “soft targets”—people who won’t fight back—rather than real criminals. Between the Texas school incident and the THP DUI fiasco, it’s hard not to see that pattern. Hmmm…

And, for the record...
Here come the comments: "That's just one incident," "Who hurt you? / Did you have a bad experience?" "Not all police..."
GTFOH with that shit.
You can type it... you can submit it... but this author will not publish such falsehoods.
