Fasting While Sick
Several weeks ago, The Rifleman completed a week-long fast. With intentions of doing more fasts, a unique situation popped up. One day, The Rifleman had picked up a stomach bug, and was experiencing extreme intestinal discomfort. Bloating and nausea were also among the symptoms.
After one day of symptoms, they subsided a bit. Since The Rifleman had not eaten that day, or in about 24 hours, a few hunger paigns were felt. A very low carb meal provided satiety. However, the abdominal pain and bloating returned within an hour or two.
Since there is a known correlation between fasting and reduced recovery time from illness, The Rifleman decided to fast this one out. In short, after 48 Hours, the symptoms were all but deleted. The Rifleman maintain the fast and other 24 hours beyond that, just to be on the safe side.
There were no ill effects beyond that, pun intended.
