What Women Say Meme

This meme keeps making rounds on the Facebook and Twitter channels, so it is the topic of today's discussion. Keeping with the theme of masculinity, each part of the meme will be answered with a correct statement by the man who is not putting up with this woman's shit.

1) Fine. This is the word women use to end an argument when she knows she is right and you need to shut up.

Caveats - she probably started the argument. And he probably got most or all of the logic points. She has lost, but cannot accept it.

Reply: "thanks, babe... I knew you were a rational girl." Said with a shit-eating grin and walk away.


2)  Nothing - means something and you need to be worried.

Caveats - she has probably had this issue before and you won those arguments. She is afraid of this argument. Alternately, she wants to gain attention by forcing you to drag something out of her.

Reply - "If it's nothing, then you should stop stressing over it - it's giving you gray hairs." Walk away and engage in a productive activity.


3) Go Ahead - this is a dare, not permission, do not do it.

Caveats - If she's got you stopping in your tracks with this one, it's almost too late. Time for a dismiss and ignore.

Answer - "Thanks, babe. You are the best!" Make sure to do it.
If she tries to start a fight about it later, more dismiss & ignore, and make sure to remind her she said to go ahead and logical, sane adults do not say "go ahead" when they mean "please don't."


4) Whatever - a woman's way of saying screw you.

Caveats - again, you've probably won the argument (that she started) with logic points. She just wants you out of her face because she can't take the loss. Time to make it sting so she doesn't try an argument in the future for no just cause.

Answer - "I knew you could overcome those pesky emotions and see the rationale! You're getting good at this."


5) That's OK-  She is thinking long and hard on how and when you will pay for your mistake.

Caveats - you gave in. Not much to say other than that. You apologized for something you shouldn't have.

Reply - not now, but later when she tries to bring it back up, "Hey, you said that was ok. If it's not OK, then why lie to me? When you lie to me it feels like you are betraying my trust, and we can't have that."


Bonus Word: Wow - this is not a compliment. She is amazed one person could be so stupid.

Caveats - actually, it is a compliment of the highest magnitude. You've dumbfounded her.

Answer - more of the same. Dismiss & Ignore, Agree & Amplify, Ridicule & Reframe. You just did one (or more) of these successfully, don't stop now!

She's really just amazed you passed her shit test with flying colors.
