No kidding
Some time back, I had a man come to my martial arts classes. He wanted to attend for free. This is not entirely surprising, as it does happen from time to time. Later, he did "offer" to trade doing around the house chores in exchange, but that did not pan out.
Given he had a background in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ("BJJ")and had earned a belt other than white, and given he had formed a friendship with one of my students, it gave a unique opportunity for a hilarious conversation.
Granted, we have already established that this person does not want to pay for classes.
My student, a mutual friend, and this person (called "Freeloader" below for the ease of understanding who is who) were discussing a BJJ seminar:
Student: "Wow! $100 is kinda steep. Is it worth it?"
Friend: "I've had a seminar with this instructor before. It is totally worth it for a different point of view, and the quality instruction he provides."
Freeloader: "I never pay for a seminar..."
No shit. You seem to want to never pay for anything!
Oh, BTW: his reason for never paying for a seminar? "Because the moves are the same as you get in regular instruction."
I have news for you: all the moves are the same, what makes a seminar worth it is that you get different setups and combinations, as well as a different point of view.
