Move & counter-move
So a short while ago, the National Gun Victim's Action Council declared a boycott on Starbucks due to the company's policy on guns.
Starbucks' official policy is to "abide by local laws." This means in places where carry is banned (IL only), then customers are not permitted to carry in their stores; and in places where carry is legal (49 states), customers may carry in accordance to the law.
In light of this, many guns rights groups declared countermeasures. Today, we went to Starbucks. Those of us most vocal paid and/or tipped with $2 bills. I paid forward the car behind mine, and tipped a $2 bill on that one, too.
Seems there was a net zero effect on business today.

First it was MSN, second is was still during the day. I doubt we will ever know the true impact, even though it would be interesting information.
