AK47 as a Minuteman Rifle

Continuing with the idea of the minuteman rifle (MR), let's review the AK47.

As pictured, the AK47 has a 30-round magazine. It could also be outfitted with a bandolier holding six more magazines.

The ideal Minuteman Rifle (MR) is an AR15. A distant, but distinct second, is the AK47.
Here's how the AK stacks up to those rifles:

Capacity:
Ideal. 30-round magazines are the norm.

Reloading:
Not as good as an AR15, but better than any other (except maybe an M1A).

Accuracy:
4 MOA is a best-bet for the AK47. Decent for its range, but certainly at the low end among possible Minuteman Rifles.

Weight:
At 8.5 pounds, weight for the AK47 is medium.

Cost:
At $550+, the AK 47 is nearly as expensive as a low-end AR. Not great, but not horrible, either.

Reliability:
Outside a bolt action, this is probably the most reliable platform one could choose.

Range:
The 7.62x39mm round is best at or under 300 meters.

Magazines / clips:

Very reliable, if somewhat expensive.

Upgrades:
Few.
Don't go with a scope or red dot, as mounting mechanisms are often suspect at best.
